What does "lean" mean to your IT department and the tools and information systems it maintains? Most
lean manufacturers have included IT only in explicit and obvious
adjustments directly necessitated by adopting lean. While this is a
start, it in no way optimizes or applies lean principles to the data
available in information systems or to the IT department itself.
It
includes a detailed account of how Jean and her co-author, Duane Jones,
the IS manager, led the efforts at their company to transform their
information systems to fully address the information requirements of the
