In the early 90s, our founder, Jean Cunningham, dove deeply into the
lean manufacturing environment being created at her company. She
couldn't understand why these same lean concepts were not being applied
to other parts of the company. Over the next several years as CFO, Jean
participated and promoted the use of kaizen events to create lean
centric processes throughout the enterprise.
These efforts eventually affected every
process and employee in the company. In every
case—that's every single kaizen through every department in a company
that was already well known for quality and innovation—the application
of lean principles proved successful in eliminating waste, improving
process flow, and improving the bottom line.
